By The Forum • August 21st, 2008 • No Comments »

We promise there will be more than just college rankings on The Forum soon enough…  there just isn’t much news to report right now.  There are new solar-powered trash compactors all over campus and the new dorm is beautiful, but who cares…  For now, it’s important to teach freshmen about the CMC/Pomona rivalry and beat down the idea of college rankings like a dead horse.

Below are rankings for the 5Cs for 2008-2009 and some criteria U.S.

Karl Rove and Maureen Dowd to Speak at Athenaeum

By The Forum • August 15th, 2008 • 5 Comments »

Although the Fall 2008 Athenaeum schedule has not been finalized, former White House Deputy Chief of Staff Karl Rove and New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd will be coming to CMC this semester.  Karl Rove is slated to speak September 15 as a Res Publica Speaker; Maureen Dowd will speak November 17 as a President’s Office Speaker, according to information posted on the Athenaeum website.

Living up to its reputation, the Athenaeum is bringing us two very ideologically opposed speakers.  In a recent column of Dowd’s, she criticizes Rove’s tactics:

“Actually, that sounds more like W.

2. Student Evaluations of Professors from Ratemyprofessors.com (25%)

3. Four- Year Graduation Rates (16 2/3%)

4.

Some of you may have noticed a slight site redesign, along with an advertisement for Amazon.com on the right side of this page.  Although we normally wouldn’t cheapen the Forum by posting advertising, Amazon.com is offering us roughly 6% commission on each purchase made after someone clicks on that ad… money that goes straight to ASCMC activities like TNCs, club funding, and student life activities.  It applies to anything at Amazon: used books, new books, blenders, refrigerators, etc.
